Travelling to visit the Yard? Then why not make a full day out of your visit to Herefordshire?
South Herefordshire has an abundance of beautiful walks, hotels, pubs, historic churches and sights to rival the best found anywhere else in the Country. With the Wye Valley minutes away in one direction and the Golden Valley the other, the area boasts some of the Countries most peaceful and historic spots. All of the below are within a quick 20 minute drive from my village, Wormelow Tump.
If you've not visited this area before, you'll quickly see what you've missed out on!
Places to Stay
Tucked away in Twyford Common is Lyndhurst Farm. A premium self-catered stay offering a 4-bed converted farm house along with a separate shepherds hut. Both with their own jacuzzi.
Looking for a quick stay? The Pilgrim Country Hotel is only just up the road. With an on-site restaurant and a relaxing terrace, this is the perfect place to go and relax.
Places to Enjoy
Over by the Welsh boarder is Rowlestone Court Ice Cream. Boasting field to freezer in only 1 day, their luxury dairy ice cream (with no hidden nasties) is sublime!
The River Wye offers a number of hidden spots to enjoy a picnic or a frolic. Over in Suckley, North of Ross-on-Wye, you'll park up in front of a large foot bridge and just on is a large pebble beach.
Places to Visit
Only a 10 minute drive from the Yard is Kilpeck Church. Celebrated as one of the UK's finest remaining examples of a Norman church, this is admired for its exquisite stone carvings.
By chance, moving a few villages on from Kilpeck you will discover Dore Abbey. A marvellous Cistercian Abbey located in Abbey Dore, just on the outskirts of the Golden Valley.
Places to Eat
The Kilpeck Inn. Located a stones throw from the Yard, the Inn offers a menu full of local and seasonal produce. Perfect for someone seeking a quality sample of what Herefordshire has to offer.
The Cottage of Content. The result is in the name, fantastic service, smooth ale, and good food ultimately results in a very satisfied visit! Hidden away in a lovely part of Herefordshire.
