In August 2020 Thomas Pearson launched the business from the appropriately named Tom’s Yard and never looked back. Of course, he didn’t realise quite how hard it would be to set up a brick-and-mortar retail business in the midst of a national pandemic… however, with quality stock at competitive market rates, he's managed to send pieces throughout the UK and to attract keen gardeners from day 1.

Thomas' previous experience was working with Europe's leading retailer of Decorative Antiques and Garden Ornaments, running their main showroom. It was here he developed his knowledge and eye as he assisted Private Clients, Interior Designers and Dealers from around the globe in their search for beautiful and authentic pieces.

Since launching the business he has been very fortunate to work with some very exciting projects, the sort he thought would take years to get involved with. He has supplied a number of prestigious hotels, country estates, garden designers, production sets and many happy private clients in-between.

Thomas loves what he does and being a one-man band means you only ever deal with him. The Yard isn't open to the public every day of the week. In the 'Peak Season' (April through to September) he is flying around like a mad man delivering, conducting site visits and collecting new stock.

Thomas only lives a few minute away from the Yard and due to his schedule he encourages clients to get in touch before making a visit so he can ensure that he is around. Client appointments are his top priority, so when possible will always attempt to schedule his plans around you.

2022 has been a very exciting year so far for Thomas. He has worked closely with some of the UK's leading garden designers, worked with a film company for a production likely to be featured on Netflix, had his stock featured on a hit new Channel 4 series, made it through as a finalist for StartUps in the Midlands (final results tbc June) and he has established himself as Herefordshire's specialist retailer of olive trees.

Outside work Thomas is a keen reader, regularly going through books on gardening (he has a passion in the history of gardening styles and garden antiques), though he does have a soft spot for Jules Verne, and is currently studying for his Level 4 Diploma in Garden Design with the British Academy of Garden Design.

Gardens aside, he is an active member of Hereford Round Table, a charity fundraising for local causes in Herefordshire, and is looking forward to this Summer's Rock The Barn Festival. Occasionally he commentates at Cross Country events throughout the Cotswolds having commentated at the prestigious Gatcombe in 2021. Unfortunately, due to a busy year he has had to turn down commentating at BE level events in 2022 but hopes to be more involved in 2023.

You will often find him with his best friend Leo the Whippet pitter-pattering around by his side. Leo is a good boy and enjoys meeting new people, just as much as his owner! His girlfriend, Goose, is often seen helping him at the Yard on the weekends and at shows. She brings the looks, he brings the graft - a fantastic team!
